Why Does Weather-resistant Steel Plate Need To Rust?

Due to the strong corrosion resistance of weather-resistant steel plates, it usually takes 6 months to 1 year for a new steel plate to form a stable protective layer in the natural environment, and it may take longer in some dry areas or indoors.

Even if it produces a simple and uniform rust, it will take about a month. During this process, the color of the component will uncontrollably change from blue-black to orange-red, and then to rust-red, reddish-brown, violently and without uniformity.

Most architectural and landscape projects have a short construction cycle, and ordinary people are not familiar with weathering steel plates. When seeing this process taking place, it is easy to think of inferior projects made of ordinary steel plates (even industry insiders cannot easily tell the difference with the naked eye). This misunderstanding greatly affects the good design of builders.

Therefore, the introduction of medium and high special steel to accelerate the corrosion of rusty steel plates is based on a series of physical and chemical processes to accelerate the corrosion process, so that the workpiece reaches a relatively stable color state within one day after completion. Although this state will still produce color changes in the future, the changes are quite gentle and gradual, which is very different from the rusting and rust spot shedding process of ordinary inferior steel plates.
