How to choose the best fire pit

Fire pits are the latest rage in outdoor furniture. They provide cozy warmth on cool nights, but can also be the center of attention during social gatherings. If you're considering investing in a fire pit, you may be overwhelmed with all the options on the market today. Our range of fire pits come in all shapes, sizes and different materials, so how do you choose the best fire pit for your garden?

Cast Iron vs Steel
When choosing a fire pit, the material it is constructed from is an important factor for many - which is best, cast iron or steel?
Both materials have their pros and cons, which we will explore in order to choose the best fire pit for you.

Cast Iron Fire Pits
Cast iron is sometimes considered the best choice for a fire pit because of its insulating properties and durability, allowing you to generate more heat by burning wood or coal. Because cast iron is a thicker, denser metal, it takes longer to heat up than steel, but retains heat longer. Cast iron has a higher carbon content than steel, can withstand harsh weather, and requires minimal maintenance.
An important factor in choosing a cast iron or stainless steel fire pit is its location outdoors. Cast iron is much heavier than steel, making it difficult to move once it is in place.

Steel Fire Pits
Steel fire pits are just as good as cast iron fire pits, offering the advantage of heating up faster and giving off the same level of heat. However, because steel is thinner than iron, steel fire pits lose heat more quickly when the fire goes out.
One of the benefits of steel fire pits is that they are lighter and therefore easier to move around the garden. They also have a more modern look, with smoother lines and a sleek silhouette that can be easily welded, perfect for the modern garden.
